The last part of chapter 2

Alright we are reaching the end of this chapter

-Eventhough the british set up a trading settlement in Singapore,they did not  own it
-Singapore was still a territory controlled by a malay ruler

-Singapore become a British colony all because of John Crawfurd

here is what happened:
John Crawfurd signed a treaty(Yes another TREATY)with the Sultan and Temenggong.
-They would hand Singapore over to E.I.C(british owned).
-Singapore was not free(just like the things in singapore)
They British payed a large sum of money for Singapore.

Now just a quick one.
What did Farquhar had to do to get Singapore to come to life:
1.He had to invite settlers from melaka.
2.Started a small police force
3.Offered  money for killing pest.
