For the first time,the people had some choice in deciding who was going to represent them.

-Only those born in Singapore could vote------>Singapore is mostly made up of immigrants
-Only one party took part which was the Singapore Progressive Party(SPP)

-Made up of English-speaking upper class PROFFESIONALS
-Believe in gradual self-government'
-They are pro-british

Now people did not really like SPP because they were pro-british and wanted gradual self independence.
